I should probably write a follow-up with more detail on the genes and how they are passed down. Each parent has 1 dominant and 3 recessive genes. There is about a 60% chance that the offspring will get either dominant gene. 30% chance of coming from either 1st recessive. 7% coming from 2nd recessive — and we haven’t observed any coming from the 3rd yet. There is also a 3% chance of a mutation. (Credit to the developer of CryptoKittyDex — he ran those numbers for me)
