Having worked in apps & games for pre-schoolers, I’ve been down this depressing rabbit-hole while doing research for my company.
It’s truly a case of the bad driving out the good. The company I worked for created high quality interactive content with educational goals. It went out of business while companies that were able to focus on quantity over quality went on to reap the rewards on the app market — with lots of questionable practices around data collection and in-app purchases.
This is the consequence of not paying for content, and the only way to fix it is to pay creators, and fund companies in children’s education enough to create quality content.
